Daily Camera Endorses 2E - Increasing turnout must be our priority, ‘yes’ on 2E

The difference in voter turnout between even- and odd-year elections is stark. County data shows that roughly 30,000 fewer eligible voters cast ballots in the city of Boulder in 2021 than in 2020. In a city of 108,000, that is a huge drop-off. 

If we truly believe that democracy is a collective form of governance, then this — 30,000 unheard voices — should be enough to make ballot measure 2E a necessity. 

While the proposal to move local elections to even years is not perfect, in our eyes it is a necessary step to broaden participation and further lower barriers to voting for all members of our community.
